The artwork tries to construct ‘Herstory’ and subvert the phallocentric logic which has always projected women as pristine nothingness which is the displaced figuration of women. The series tries to envision a future where the dark spaces between the male and the female are illuminated with sympathy and comprehension, embodied through use of gold leaf foil on the work. ‘The Golden Daughter’ works to foreground the importance of gynocentric language for understanding of the fundamental rights of a female.
Khandakar carries a Masters degree in Fine Arts and has participated in many state and national level art exhibitions. She practices in multiple mediums such as painting, drawing, videography, installation etc.
